The Taste of Vacation
3 Iconic Dishes to Try in Antalya, Cyprus, and Crete
A successful vacation always goes through the stomach. The Mediterranean region and Turkey are famous for their longevity and incredible flavors. If you choose one of our star destinations—Antalya, Cyprus, or Crete—here is what should not be missing from your plate:
Antalya (Turkey)
- Peynirli Pide & Shish Kebab
Even though All-Inclusive offers everything, step out of the resort to taste an authentic Pide (often called Turkish pizza). It is a thin, boat-shaped dough filled with cheese, minced meat, and vegetables, baked in a wood-fired oven. Don’t forget the famous Shish Kebab made of lamb or beef, marinated in secret spice blends and served with roasted peppers and cold yogurt.
- Must-try dessert: Pistachio Baklava, served with a glass of Turkish tea.
Cyprus
- Cypriot Meze & Grilled Halloumi
In Cyprus, eating is a social event. Order a Meat or Fish Meze and prepare for a succession of 20-30 small plates: from hummus and tahini to Kleftiko (oven-baked lamb). The undisputed star, however, is Halloumi, the local cheese with a high melting point that takes on a delicious, chewy texture after being grilled with a touch of mint.
Crete (Greece)
- Dakos & Kalitsounia
Cretan cuisine is considered the healthiest in the world. Start with Dakos—a barley rusk (paximadi) lightly soaked in water and olive oil, topped with fresh grated tomatoes, mizithra cheese, and wild oregano. For something sweet, try Kalitsounia, small pastries filled with sweet cheese and honey, unique to this island.
Each of these destinations offers you a unique taste of the sun and the sea.
